More on Spring Time

Posted by mary-haskett on March 19, 2009 at 1:35 PM

Allan & I listened to the news as we drove back from our swim this morning. The announcer talked about the signs and sounds of spring that are all around us. She mentioned the noisy cardinals outside her window. I just love listening to them and their joyful songs rising and soaring." To me a most beautiful sound, far better than the many harsh noises we hear in our neighbourhoods, like wailing police sirens and angry voices.

Surely God created birds and their singing for our enjoyment.

Don't you agree?

Mary,
Today's and your previous post included the idea of one's spirit being lifted. The reference here to birds' songs rising and soaring immediately transported me to another time and place, when as a boy in Essex (over the 'Pond'), I would watch the skylark rising from the field, soaring higher and higher, till it faded from view in the sky, yet I could still hear its distant, plaintif song. I was also reminded of my own slogan "Raise the Gaze," for that's what you've done -- only in a fraction of the word count that Yours Truly would normally take!
Thanks Mary, and Lord Bless,
Peter.

funny but i have been confined at home and felt god with me as the sun beemed thru the window. I sometimes feel as if people are so rushed ...i felt the sun and found this to be a good time for devotions
my area is so quiet the birds are welcome any time

Hi Mary,
Your blog reminded me of a summer in Texas when our adult Sunday school class met at the teacher's home. I sat in the livingroom with the others but was preoccupied with the cardinals, blue jays and those beautiful black and whites that mimic everyone elses sound [?], feed or splash in the bird bath. What a lovely way to spend early Sunday morning it was! Thanks for lifting our spirits, too!

It is good see the birds of spring in our back yard. We have robins and starlings, and I've heard the red-winged blackbirds. We also have sparrows. Of course out here, we don't have the busy noises you have in the city but it is stll good to have the birds back.
As for God creating the song birds for our enjoyment; Rev. 4: 11 tells us that all things were created for His pleasure. It's still great though that we get to enter into that pleasure with Him.
Jim.
